About Vermeil

Is this gold plated?
No. It’s 14k gold vermeil, which means 2.5 microns of 14k gold over solid sterling silver. That’s about five times thicker than standard gold plating, and it’s the industry standard for gold you can wear every day.

Will it tarnish?
The gold itself doesn’t tarnish. With years of daily wear, the gold can slowly soften in high-friction spots, like the clasp. Taking it off before swimming and putting it on after lotion and perfume keeps it bright much longer.

Is it good for sensitive skin?
Yes. The 14k gold sits against your skin, over sterling silver, with no nickel or brass base.

How is it different from solid gold?
Solid gold is gold all the way through and lasts a lifetime. Vermeil gives you the look and feel of 14k gold at a more accessible price, made to wear daily.

How do I care for it?
Store it on its own in its pouch, wipe it with a soft cloth, and avoid chlorine and salt water.
